ABOUT OUR CAMPUS

In 2019, we planted our college ministry and have connected with over 300 students from 17 countries. Eleven students came to saving faith in Christ in 2021-2022 school year. We hope to make a kingdom difference on the Missouri Valley Campus, Marshall, the US and, around the world.

We are solely funded by churches and individuals. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and would help us spread the difference we are creating.

MARITA AVILEZ

CAMPUS MISSIONARY

Hi! I'm Marita Avilez. I have always had a passion for working with students. I'm a former teacher and youth minister. I was born and raised in Marshall and my husband Alex is an MVC alumni. We both are passionate about this campus. I've been helping with The Bridge since is started in 2019, but came on staff in January of 2021 and love it!

God has continued to bless my life with the people and community of faith here at MOVAL since the Bridge started. I love digging into God's Word with students and seeing the transformational power change their lives. My goal is to equip students to lead their own discipleship groups so they can fulfill the Great Commission and be disciples who make disciples of Jesus. I also love training students to know how to prepare and preach messages. Increasing peer to peer evangelism and discipleship are two of our main goals at the Bridge.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! There will be no Bridge activities this week which includes Sunday night dinner both today and next Sunday as well as Thursday night large group. The next event will be on Thursday December 5th and will be our annual Christmas party! Have a great break!

Our leadership team went to The List farm this weekend for a retreat. We ate good food, played games, and students led devotions. We have such a great team! Thank you to Pastor Paul for hosting us!

Third Thursday event: dodgeball!

Tonight at large group Julio, Liz, and Gabe led worship. Hugo taught about Moses and encouraged us to not put anything before God.

Giving Tuesday this year falls on December 3rd and we are inviting you to support us with any possible offerings. The Bridge Collegiate Ministry functions solely on donations and ministry funding. Therefore your generous contributions will help us make provision for essential supplies, maintenance of our facility, meals for various occasions and funding towards both service projects and mission trips. All this is going towards benefiting our own and other communities and strengthening the faith of the individuals that play a role in any endeavor. Tonight at Large Group Liz shared her testimony. Cedric and Sarron led worship and Nelius taught about Noah. He challenged us with these 3 points: God has our lives and paths planned out already, Trust God’s plan for your life, Listen for God’s call.

Tonight at Large Group Cade shared about summer job opportunities with @sports.crusaders . KC, Tris and Deborah led worship and Damon taught any Absolom. He challenged us to make Jesus the King of our life rather than ourselves.

Join us for some fall fun at the Bridge on Thursday night! We will have a fire pit for s’mores, a costume contest, a diy apple bar, various snacks and food, a halloween movie playing and there will be pumpkin carving upon sign up for a pumpkin (link coming shortly)!

South Africa Night at The Bridge! Thank you to Nelius for spearheading the event and our South African students for working all afternoon to make the delicious food: Bobotie, kebabs, yellow rice, potato salad, Peppermint Crisp Tart and Malva Pudding. We had a great time!

Happy homecoming! Thank you to Pastor Paul and alumni Malia for making pancakes this morning and First Baptist Church for grilling for us at tailgating! We enjoyed hanging out with our current and former students!

Tonight at Large Group Nate shared his testimony. Luke and Paul led worship and Pastor Paul taught over Joshua. 💪“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” 💪

We had an amazing night at Fields of Faith. Over 115 people gathered together on the MVC Football Field. Patty Jo and Luke led worship and 2 students, Luke and Gabriel, shared their testimonies of how God has been growing them during their college years. Cedric Davis, a May 2024 alumni, shared how God got ahold of his life, how people poured into him during college and now he is making disciples. He challenged students to be in God's word, to not be conformed to the world, and to be bold in their faith. Then students broke up into groups for a time of prayer. To God be the glory!

This year our international night will be proudly South African! Come join us on Sunday at 6PM for a fun night of South African food and music with a little presentation about our beautiful country’s heritage and diverse culture! 🇿🇦

Tonight at Large Group Aubrey shared about a mission trip she went on over the summer with @one7_ministries. Patty Jo, Liz and Luke led worship. Student leader Aaron taught over the life of David: God Qualifies the Called, Not Calls the Qualified. Then for our 3rd Thursday event we went to the park to play pickleball!

Pray for her and the work she will be doing with college students there. Tris, KC and Deborah led worship for us and Paul taught over the story of Cain and Able from Genesis 4.

Several sports teams returned to MVC campus today. We helped five students move their stuff from The Bridge storage to their rooms. We got a good workout!

Tonight @rubaldm74 made Nepali food for us for dinner! Then we studied Daniel chapter 8.

Today we joined the MU Bridge at Finger Lakes State Park for fun at the lake. Then we ended the night with Bible study over Daniel chapter 7.

Paulino is on a mission trip to Mexico! He went with us on our mission trip over Thanksgiving break and had the opportunity to go with our association this week. On our last trip, he received training on how to share the Gospel with the 3 circles bracelets and shared it in Spanish with the family we were building the house for and some shop keepers at the market. He's sharing again on this trip and we are so proud of him!
